Did you know…

There are eight sets of steps that link the ‘High Town’ and the ‘Low Town’, as well as a steep old Cartway, where goods were once hauled up to the market above. The cart is gone, but the path remains.

About Bridgnorth

Bridgnorth is a historic market town in Shropshire. The town is actually split into two towns, by the River Severn, the ‘High Town’, which has great views down, and the ‘Low Town’ which has great views up. The two towns are linked by a funicular railway, the Castle Hill Railway, which is the steepest and only inland railway of this type in England.

Our estate agents love Bridgnorth for its quaint, idyllic feel. In Bridgnorth you’ll find independent shops stocking a range of antiques, period properties, the remains of a castle, and a steam train service. Bridnorth offers residents a typical, English village vibe.

Things to do in Bridgnorth

  • Our estate agents in Bridgnorth love the castle and surrounding gardens. Bridgnorth Castle dates back to 896, but in 1646 Cromwell ordered it be demolished, and so the castle was blown up, the stone being taken away and used to repair the town's buildings. As a result, Bridgnorth leans at a 15 degree angle, 4 times the lean of the tower of Pisa.
  • For food and drink our estate agents recommend The Old Castle, a traditional pub with a beautiful garden, and a selection of seasonal dishes.
  • Bridgnorth Town Hall is another notable sight, it occupies a grand position on the High Street, where it has stood since the 17th century. The Town Hall is known for its stained glass, which was installed in 1887 for Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee. You can only view the stained glass from inside the Town Hall, so our estate agents suggest you pop in.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY ABOUT US . . .

quote

We used RE/MAX for the sale of our property. RE/MAX was very helpful from start to finish, always there at the end of the phone when needed. Always chasing for updates. They have been truly amazing! Their costs are also very good value for money when you consider the service they provide. I would highly recommend!
