Devon is a county by the coastline in southwest England a, bordering Cornwall to the west and Somerset to the east. It is home to two cities: Exeter and Plymouth and the county spans from the Bristol Channel in the north, to the English Channel in the south. With not one, but two coastlines, both north and south coasts of Devon have sandy shore and cliffs, to include fishing towns, resorts and ports. Further inland, the terrain becomes hilly and much more rural, with lower inhabitants.
Well known for its cliffs, parks and sandy beaches, Devon is a popular tourist destination referred to as the English Riviera. Nearby coastal towns and countryside in the south of Devon include Torbay, Torquay, Paignton and Brixham. These are all picturesque towns, each offering something unique.
Devon’s Jurassic Coast became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2011. The coastline begins in Exmouth, East Devon and stretches 95 miles along to Old Harry Rocks, near Swanage Dorset. With many places of natural interest; fascinating rocks, fossils and wildlife, take some time out to explore this beautiful region.
If you enjoy cycling, the Plymbridge Woods and Plynne Valley cycle trails and walks are sure to be a winner among family and friends. Follow an old Great Western Railway track, from the edge of Plymouth right into magnificent woodland, ending in idyllic countryside. Along with the beautiful scenery, you can expect to see viaducts and quarry faces.
Let your Devon estate agents guide you in what we know to be the very best of the region and find you a property that is right for you.
