Did you know…

Star Trek and X-Men megastar Sir Patrick Stewart grew up in a small town called Mirfield, just around the corner from Huddersfield. He is still incredibly loyal to his local roots and was the Vice Chancellor of Huddersfield University. If that is not enough, former UK Prime Minister Lord Harold Wilson was born and bred in Huddersfield; in fact, there is a statue of him outside the train station to pay homage.

About Huddersfield

In the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire sits Huddersfield's large market town. The town is famous for its local rugby team, the Huddersfield Giants, who play at The John Smith's Stadium. It is said that Rugby originated right here in this large Yorkshire town where the sport was invented in 1895, making the connection with the sport even more poignant.

Doused in historical significance, Huddersfield has over 200 listed buildings. This market town was once renowned as an epicentre for textile manufacturing, a trade that brought merchants from far and wide to the site. As a result, many of the period buildings remain standing today.

Getting around Huddersfield is a sinch with plenty of bus and rail options on hand to serve the public.

The Huddersfield Community

Huddersfield is among the largest towns in the UK, with a population of around 434,000.

This quiet and quaint town is nestled in the Yorkshire countryside, so long walks, pleasant views and quintessentially English architecture and local amenities are in abundant supply. The district is known to be home to one of the most attractive surrounding areas in the country, including

Pennine moorland, parts of which are in the Peak District National Park and the National Trust Marsden Moor estate, both of which are popular with residents and visitors who flock here every year.

The annual Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival sees thousands of people visit the area yearly. The festival is the largest of its kind in the world, so it is definitely worth a visit.

If shopping, dining, or local activities are on your mind, Huddersfield is a popular area for all. Kingsgate, Piazza, and Great Northern Retail are all busy shopping centres with plenty of options on fashion, technology, homeware and more. In addition, Huddersfield has a vast melting pot of choices for those wishing to dine out, so whether you are after a traditional bit of pub grub, an Indian, Mediterranean, or South American, you will find something for the whole family to enjoy.

We used RE/MAX for the sale of our property. RE/MAX was very helpful from start to finish, always there at the end of the phone when needed. Always chasing for updates. They have been truly amazing! Their costs are also very good value for money when you consider the service they provide. I would highly recommend!
