Mossley
Mossley is a suburb of Greater Manchester, situated approximately 4 miles north of Oldham and 6 miles south of Rochdale. It is located in Tameside, east of Ashton-under-Lyne, south of Dukinfield and north of Stalybridge. Mossley was once a tiny village at the crossroads between the busy turnpike roads from Ashton-under-Lyne to Altrincham and Stalybridge to Hyde.
The village has expanded dramatically over the last 100 years with housing developments on both sides of the A619 road and around Mossley Station. Transport links in Mossley include buses and trains operated by First Greater Manchester and Arriva, respectively.
The local population is estimated at around 20,000 people living within Mossley itself (including Mossley Hill), with many other residents that commute into Mossley from surrounding areas such as Droylsden, Ashton-under-Lyne and Oldham. Mossley was once a rural village but has seen many changes recently as it has become more urbanised. The town centre has undergone significant development with new shopping areas and restaurants, catering to visitors and residents alike.
Mossley Carnival and Mossley Music Festival attract thousands of visitors each year. The town also hosts an annual arts festival called “Art in The Park” where local artists sell their work alongside live music performances and family activities such as face painting or balloon animals for children.
