Did you know…

In March 1913, world-famous escape artist and illusionist Harry Houdini jumped from Newport Bridge handcuffed. Local police tried desperately to stop the Hungarian-born showman from leaping 63 metres into the River Usk but were fooled by a well-placed lookalike who took the attention away from the real Houdini. Nevertheless, the death-dying jump was watched by thousands of spectators who assembled to see the event take place. Then, freed from his shackles by himself, he swam ashore to waves of adoration from the public. The people of Newport were so impressed by the escape artist they greeted him with a magnificent reception to celebrate his success.

About Newport

Newport is a city steeped in ancient history; with records dating back to 75AD, from Bronze Age fishermen and Norman invasions to royal visits and hosting the Ryder Cup, Newport is a deeply rooted historical and modern popular culture reference. The city of Newport in Wales sits close to the Severn Estuary, which flows directly into the Bristol channel between England and Wales. Newport is 12 miles from the Welsh capital city, Cardiff, with a population of approximately 147,000; it is the third largest city in Wales. The city is well-served by an abundance of transport links, from rail journeys to local and further to Bristol and London, as well as easy accessibility by car and bus to nearby areas.

The Newport Community

There is plenty to keep you occupied in Newport with stunning historical sights, including Tredegar House, Caerleon Roman Fortress and Baths and Newport Transporter Bridge to the natural splendours of the wetlands, Wentwood Forest and Beechwood Park. quote

We used RE/MAX for the sale of our property. RE/MAX was very helpful from start to finish, always there at the end of the phone when needed. Always chasing for updates. They have been truly amazing! Their costs are also very good value for money when you consider the service they provide. I would highly recommend!
