Paignton is a seaside town on the coast of Tor Bay in Devon in the southwest of England. Situation 25 miles northeast of Plymouth and 20 miles south of Exeter, Paignton has the fourth largest population in Devon, standing at 67,345 and is home to stretches of beautiful beachfronts and promenades. Paignton was first mentioned in 1086 it was built upon a fishing village which saw its first harbour built in 1847 and just over 10 years later saw its railway services introduced, drawing visitors to the area. Things to do in Paignton

Paignton Beach sits in the centre of the Tor Bay area with much to do on the sea front and its promenade. It offers idyllic scenes and a mile long sandy red beach, which is due to the iron chemicals within the soil, usually only found in desserts. In the centre of the beach, Paignton Pier offers an abundance of arcade games, cafés and restaurants.

One of Devon’s most popular attractions is Paignton Zoo, which counts over 2,000 animals across 80 acres of grounds, as well as talks, feeding times and competitions to get involved with.
