The village and parish of Perton get their name from the copious pear trees that once grew in the area - the name means 'Pear Town". Perton is an affluent suburban area in South Staffordshire, not Wolverhampton, which is the common misconception - though there are good transport links between Wolverhampton and Perton. The large village sits three miles south of Codsall and four miles from Wolverhampton city.
This beautiful village is a bustling hub of activity and gives the locals all they need. Right in the middle of the village sits a shopping centre and supermarket; there are local churches, community centres, and schools. In addition to cafes, takeaways include fish and chips and Indian, as well as conveniences like opticians, estate agents, pharmacies, post offices and local newsagents. For further amenities, the large village also holds a hairdresser, a DIY shop, banks, beauticians, and so much more besides. Other than the Tough guy Competition, many other local events are held throughout the year in Perton, including Perton Carnival and Springwatch Festival, which celebrates local nature and wildlife.
