Stalybridge
Stalybridge is a town in Greater Manchester, located 5 miles west of Glossop and 3 miles north of Denshaw in the Metropolitan Borough of Tameside, on the River Tame; it forms the boundary between Derbyshire and Cheshire. It is just under 10 miles from Manchester, accessible by car or a short 15-minute train ride into Manchester Victoria and Piccadilly stations.
With a population of around Stalybridge 27,118, it is located on the edge of the Peak District National Park with many attractions in the area to busy both residents and visitors alike, including restaurants, shops, pubs and hotels, all within walking distance from each other on Stalybridge High Street. Many high street retailers in the area have been around for decades—some even before the town was incorporated into Greater Manchester.
The town lies on the historic route from Sheffield, Derby and Leeds to Manchester via Hyde, where it was an important staging post on the road to London; this route became known as the "Great North Road". Stalybridge property types range from new build apartments closer to Manchester City Centre to traditional semi-detached houses leading from main roads. Extensive gardens back out onto green spaces and many Victorian terraces tucked away downside streets.
If you're looking for something more local, you can also support local businesses by shopping at one of Stalybridge's many community projects or activities every year. Some of these include an annual festival called 'Stalyfest', which features live entertainment and activities throughout the day like cooking classes and sports tournaments.
